How do you achieve both searchability and serendipity in experiencing information? The beauty of the physical dictionary is that in searching for a small, specific piece of information you stumble across a windfall of knowledge, although you have to spend time and effort trying to find what you're looking for. When we search using an internet search engine or a digital dictionary, we immediately find that which we're looking for and little else. This model of information experience (whether physical or digital) is insufficient in contextualizing information and does not parallel the way we experience information at a cognitive level.
This reformatting and extension of a Wiki-visualizer by the authors of "Generative Gestaltung" encourages information search at the scale of a room, capitalizing on one way in which humans rival computers (for now) in recognizing patterns within massive sets of spatialized data.
